Seven supply chain lessons

Supply Chain Digest is featuring an article called “Seven Suppy Chain Lessons From Dr. Hau Lee“. Dr. Lee is a professor at Stanford. I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Lee last year and talk a bit about Response Management.

You’ll see in the article that Dr. Lee talks about sense and respond. I’ve talked about that concept before here. It was actually Dr. Lee that commented that the problem is that “there’s too much sense and too little response” on most solutions. This is consistent with his comments here about too much noise. If people are getting lots of sensing in the form of alerts, visibility, etc. but aren’t armed with the tools to actually take action and respond, then it doesn’t deliver the value that the user and organization requires.
