The top five factors electronics executives should consider in 2006

Eric Miscoll has written a piece over at the Lean Sigma Institute entitled “The top five factors electronics executives should consider in 2006.” In the piece, he references research done by Technology Forecasters, Inc.

As the title suggests, the focus is on the top five factors electronics executives should consider in 2006:

1. Environmental compliance
2. Innovation of products and business models
3. Addressing risk
4. Planning for growth
5. Reconnecting with customers

This caught my eye because many of the items listed here are themes I’ve talked about in the past relative to Response Management. Or, said another way, Response Management can contribute to success in many of these areas. We have customers today doing so.

I read another blog the other day (exact name escapes me - my apologies) where the author, a supply chain consultant, was talking about how interesting it is to gauge the reaction of people in social settings when he mentions that he’s involved in supply chain consulting. His basic premise was that most people give a bit of a yawn at the notion.

Yet, when you think about an industry like electronics, something that everyone is familiar with because it touches our lives in so many ways, but then get “behind the scenes” on what it takes to bring those products to market and succeed while doing so, its anything but a yawn. It’s complex and constantly changing. The ability to implement the supply chain agility and supply chain collaboration necessary to survive and thrive in the marketplace is no small undertaking. It’s impressive to see it work well.

So, the “top five” list above was of interest and something I’ll continue to relate to Response Management and what our customers are doing in these areas throughout 2006. I’m fortunate enough to have an opportunity to watch some amazing companies succeed in this space and look forward to sharing how they do it.
