What you are feeling is a lack of collaboration dealing with parties involved. The customer, if not a vendor managed relationship will benefit from a tool that will allow the supplier to see what is actually moving from the shelves (in some cases VMI is better for the supplier).
You as the supplier will benefit from that relationship because it will allow you to plan in advance to assure the customer will always have stock for sale based on the way it is moving from the customer shelves.
If you treat your supplier the way it is suggested that your customer treat you all will be able to keep just enough inventory in the pipeline so that everyone is happy and not over stocked.
