In case you haven’t seen it, Supply Chain Digest has an interesting story highlighting their list of “The top supply chain disasters of all time“, it’s an interesting read…especially if you were not involved in any of the disasters that made the list. The story also contains a link to a report on “The impact of supply chain disruptions on shareholder value” which very effectively puts these disasters into context. These are both worthwhile reads.
Of course, these major “disasters” are what grab the headlines, but they certainly aren’t the only supply chain risk management challenges companies face. But, these certainly can be the motivation to developing a more proactive supply chain risk management plan – a plan that focuses on mitigating, identifying and responding to potential risks.
